I saw a man pissing in the Ooka River…

2025. 84 inkjet prints, collected objects, dimensions variable.
This project was made with the support of Koganecho Area Management Centre and Ian Potter Cultural Trust through their Emerging Artist Grants.

I saw a man pissing in the Ooka River… is a photographic typology of discarded objects in the Ooka River. 84 photographs form a portrait of daily consumption habits, revealing a small percentage of the volume of both banal and surprising objects that find their way into the Ooka River. Hanging on the wall is a collection of the artist’s rubbish, revealing her own participation in single-use goods; a minuscule sample of an endless stream of disposable materials. Installed at YUSUI Gallery, the work faces the Ooka River itself and the Yusui Spring, a publicly accessible clean water source.

The title refers to a scene the artist witnessed during her first few days of walking along the river. I was too scared to take a photo of that.
