carlingford girl (construct), 2021
carlingford girl (construct) contemplates the incongruous nature of the diasporic body, and how internal modes of identity draw on external environments to shape a sense of self.
Prints of local landscapes were placed within interior domestic spaces amongst personally significant objects. These scenes were photographed, then repeatedly reconfigured through collage, light projection, and digital compositing. The final image is a cluttered panorama that is negotiated once more as a concertina. Its uneven folds interrupt the constructed space to create new amalgamations in both hand-held reading and sculptural mode.
This unresolved mix of processes and rambling serpentine form reflect my own ambiguous conclusions on identity and place.
